The Recreation League of Cleveland presented six young women and nine young men, the daughters and sons of its member families, at the 82nd annual Assembly Ball.
Pamela Blossom and Deborah Duvin served as co-chairwomen of the event, which drew 150 guests and was presented at The Union Club on December 28, the traditional venue since the first Assembly Ball was held on New Year’s Eve in 1937.
Serving as master of ceremonies, Robert Conrad, introduced the two head ushers, Adam Robert Alt and Ryan Gerald Alt, who performed the traditional candle lighting ceremony prior to the introduction of the additional seven ushers.
Mr. Conrad began the formal presentation of each debutante, individually escorted by her father, as they descended the grand staircase, adorned with stunning floral accents of roses and greenery created by Arne from Plantscaping|Blooms. The debutantes each carried bouquets of roses in shades of pink and wrapped in satin ribbon.
The debutantes received guests in the first-floor Reading Room, forming a receiving line. Champagne and hors d’oeuvres were passed during this time.
The Debutante-Escort Promenade was presented on the main staircase, with trumpet fanfare. The debutantes then greeted guests on the first floor.
The traditional first dance with father and debutante was followed by a seated dinner. Mrs. Blossom and Mrs. Duvin thanked their committee and saluted former Debs, along with their 2019 “small but mighty” group of debutantes.
Guests enjoyed live music and dancing in the Main Ballroom and the evening was capped off with a traditional breakfast buffet.
The debutantes and their parents were: Jennifer Holmes Blossom and Perry Blossom; Alexandra Raizel Duvin and Marc Duvin; Sydney Perara Kates and Dr. Dale Kates; Claire Louise McKenna and Christopher McKenna; Mary Hollis Stewart and James Stewart; and Wren Louise Ward and Dr. Steven Ward.
